Homogeneous Tiles
Homogeneous Tiles for Floors That Get Used
Homogeneous tiles are the floor you specify when the space has to take real traffic: shops, offices, corridors, kitchens, busy family homes. The colour runs through the full thickness of the tile, so scuffs and small chips do not stand out the way they do on a glazed tile. Below are the shades and finishes we carry. Shade reads differently under different lighting, so compare a few side by side at the showroom before you order the job.

Buying guide
Specifying Homogeneous Tiles
Homogeneous tiles are full body colour, so wear does not show. The finish and the batch are what decide whether the floor still looks right in five years.
Which Finish of Homogeneous Tiles Suits the Job
The finish decides more about how the floor performs than the colour does.
Polished is the one people ask for. It reflects light, makes a room feel brighter and larger, and reads as the more expensive option. It is also the one that shows every scratch and gets slippery when wet, so it belongs in dry areas: living rooms, showrooms, offices, bedrooms.
Matt is the workhorse. It hides scuffs and water marks, it is easier to keep looking clean, and it grips better than a polished surface. For most Malaysian homes, matt is the right answer for kitchens, corridors, and anywhere the floor gets walked on with wet feet.
Textured is for the wet and the outdoor: bathroom floors, yards, car porches, walkways, commercial kitchens. The grip comes from the surface profile, which also means it holds dirt more readily and wants a brush rather than a mop in the worst spots.
Shade is the other half of the decision, and it is the half people get wrong. The same tile can read warm in one room and cold in another, depending on the lighting, the wall colour and how much daylight the room gets. A single sample tile tells you very little. Lay several out together, in the light you will actually have.
What full body colour buys you in homogeneous tiles: exceptional durability, scratch and chip resistance, low water absorption, stain and chemical resistance, and minimal maintenance. It is why these end up in retail, restaurants, offices and schools as often as in homes.
Sizes, Laying and Buying Enough
Size changes the look and the difficulty at the same time. Larger formats give fewer grout lines and a calmer, more continuous floor, which is why they are the usual choice for open-plan living areas and retail. They are also much less forgiving: a big tile sits on a bigger patch of screed, so any dip in the substrate shows up as a lipped edge. If the floor is not flat, either level it properly or use a smaller format.
Grout choice is worth a minute. A grout close to the tile shade makes the floor read as one surface; a contrasting grout makes it read as a grid. On a busy floor, a mid tone stays looking clean longer than either white or very dark. Our tile adhesive and grout range is in the same place.
Buy the whole job in one batch, plus spares. Shade and calibration vary between production runs, so homogeneous tiles ordered later may not match the ones already down. Allow a margin over the measured area for cuts and wastage, and keep a box aside for repairs, because matching a discontinued shade in three years is not realistic.
On price, we quote by the job rather than publishing a rate, because it depends on the size, the finish and the quantity. Send us the floor area and we will come back to you.

Common questions
Is homogeneous tile the same as porcelain?
Homogeneous tiles are a type of porcelain, usually described as full-body or unglazed porcelain. The difference from a glazed porcelain tile is that the colour goes right through the body instead of sitting in a surface layer. If you want the full explanation, we have written one up separately.
How much do homogeneous tiles cost in Malaysia?
Price depends on the size, the finish and the quantity, so we quote per job rather than publishing a rate. Larger formats and polished finishes cost more than a standard matt. Send us the floor area and the rooms involved and we will come back with a figure.
What sizes do homogeneous tiles come in?
600x600mm is the size most people ask for and it suits most residential floors. Larger formats are common in retail and open-plan spaces, and a smaller format is easier to lay well on an uneven substrate.
Is there a homogeneous tile catalogue?
The full range of shades and finishes is on this page, and each listing carries its product code. Colour on a screen is never exact, so treat the online range as a shortlist and confirm the shade against a physical sample before you order.
