A towel ring is a basin accessory, not a bath one. Get the placement right and it is the most used fitting in the room.
Where a Towel Ring Works
A towel ring takes a single hand towel or washcloth and almost no wall, which makes it the right fitting for small bathrooms, powder rooms and guest areas where a full rail would crowd the wall.

Where it goes: residentially, beside the basin in small bathrooms, powder rooms and guest areas. Commercially, hotels, offices, spas and clinics. In shared spaces such as dorms and apartments, one ring per basin is easier to keep tidy than a shared rail.
For bath towels, use a double towel rail instead. A ring cannot dry a bath towel properly.
Towel Ring Finish and Fitting
Match the finish to the tap. We carry chrome and gun metal. The tap beside the basin is what your eye reads as the reference finish, so follow it rather than the tiles. See the bathroom taps and mixers in the same order if you are starting fresh.
Place it beside the basin, not above it. A ring above the counter drips onto the counter. Beside it, the drips land on the floor and dry.
Check the swing. A towel ring needs clearance to rotate, so keep it clear of a door swing, a mirror edge and the corner of the room.
Fix it properly. Mark the position before tiling if you can. Drill through masking tape with a tile bit, slow speed, hammer action off, and use a plug suited to what is behind the tile. Silicone the top edge of the flange afterwards.

Beside the basin rather than above it, within easy reach of somebody standing at it, and clear of the door swing and the mirror edge. Mounted beside the basin, drips land on the floor instead of on the counter.
What is the difference between a towel ring and a towel rail?
A ring holds one hand towel and takes almost no wall. A rail holds one or two bath towels and needs a clear run of wall. Most bathrooms want both: a ring at the basin and a rail on the dry side of the room.
What finish should I choose?
Follow the tap. We stock chrome and gun metal. Chrome is the forgiving default and hides water spots best; gun metal reads more contemporary but shows marks more, so it wants wiping rather than just rinsing.
Can a towel ring be fitted after the bathroom is tiled?
Yes. It is one of the few fittings you can still change your mind about once tiling is done, which is why accessories are chosen last. Drill slowly with a tile bit and use the right plug for what is behind the tile.
